Digital Nomads and Remote Workers

Paragraph 1 of art. 27 of the Consolidation Act no. 286/1998

Non-EU nationals who wish to engage in highly skilled self-employed or employed activities using technological tools that enable them to work remotely. The client or employer can be a company based in Italy or abroad.

Definitions:

– Digital nomad means a foreigner who is self-employed through the use of technological tools that enable him/her to work remotely;

– Remote worker: a foreigner who carries out subordinate or collaborative work activities using technological tools that enable him/her to work remotely (in this case, the methods of execution are organized by the principal).

The requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit are as follows
– High professional qualifications corresponding to ‘highly qualified employment”;
– At least six months of experience in the work activity to be performed as a digital nomad or remote worker;
– An income of approximately €26,000 per year for a worker without dependents, health insurance and accommodation;

The entry visa will be issued outside the quotas and at any time of the year.

3) A quote will be provided for Assistance with the visa and residence permit application.
